Dear Paris: Je t'aime

Many apologies for not updating the blog. It has been a whirlwind six weeks, but oh boy do I have some stories for you.

First off at the end of May I had the privilege of meeting up with my good friend Lauren from home. She was lucky enough to have some business in the south of France, so we met up in Paris. How fantastic. I have never felt so Parisian.

-- “What are your plans for the weekend?”
-- “Oh…I’ll actually be going to Paris to meet a girlfriend of mine. I’ll be back Sunday afternoon”.

Boom. This was my life. Surreal even still….and it has now been 6.5 months since I have been in Europe. But the fact that I could just DO that, meet a friend in Paris. I loved the idea.
So off I went to visit Lauren in Paris. We met up without any problems and I was soon introduced to her friend Krystin. A girls weekend in Paris; how superb. It was Krystin’s first time to Paris and as such we were destined to show her the ropes and show her all of the fantastic sight seeing bits. In the weekend we hit all the big ones: Eiffel tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, The Louvre, walked all over the place, experienced superb cuisine, not to mention wine and even tested out the gelato.

Life was fantastic.

The first day was very relaxing, just walking around and seeing some of the sites. We ate at a fabulous little place and enjoyed some steak and wine. Excellent. It was one of Lauren’s friends Seb’s birthdays. So we were meeting up with them after. A night on the town. I had been to Paris before, but we had never been for a night on the town. I could not wait. Of course, without any doubt, the Parisians showed us a hell of a night. We danced the night away and made it home for sunrise.

The next day, we may have slept in until around 1ish then decided to hit up the Eiffel tower for a picnic. The weather was beautiful, it was packed and the tanners were out in packs. An ideal day to have our picnic. We picked up the baguettes, meat and cheese and of course wine on our way. Picked our spot and were meeting Seb & Rom (two of Lauren’s friends) for our picnic. Turns out you can’t have alcohol on the Champ de Mars, but we didn’t have much left by then anyways. Superb picnic.

We parted ways with the guys and were off on some more adventures. We took Krystin to see the Arc de Triomphe and I suppose there was an eco fair event of some sort because the entire Avenue des Champs Elysees was shut down from cars and was covered in trees and saud. Very cool to say the least and you could purchase trees to add to the already large collection.

She has very much wanted to briefly see the Louvre; clearly, not necessarily the tour but to walk inside and see the building itself. I mean, you could indeed spend about 3 days touring the inside. It was insanely large, fantastic, but time consuming. Since she didn’t have much time in the city, we were off again.

We ended up stopping at the most sensational pasta joint on the island and shared a couple pasta dishes. Paris could not get any better than this. To cap off the evening we finished with a view of Sacre Coeur and the ever shining Eiffel Tower.

Paris had been another fantastic stop on the map, and what a better place to share it with then old and new friends.

Next up on the list was: Scotland. Ooooo baby.
